Tapa (Tah - pah) (plural - “tapas”) noun
Years ago, before paved floors, Spanish bar keeps would cover their drinks with a napkin to keep dust from falling into their customers’ drinks. The napkins eventually evolved into small plates to hold food and from there, the food on top of the drink became known as “tapas”.
